Dear MVGS Community,
After the privilege of working with the best students, parents, teachers, administrators, and board members for almost 15 years, I am planning to retire as director of MVGS, effective January 1, 2021. I have often said that I have the best job in the world, and it is true. Learning with hundreds of the brightest, most hard working and creative students in our area has brought much joy and satisfaction to my life.Though I’m sad to leave you and this fantastic school, I have places to visit, quilts to make, and grandbabies to love. I’m looking forward to this new phase of life. I’ll be part of the process to find a new director, someone who will understand our mission and bring new ideas to MVGS as we face the opportunities and challenges of the future. We have a strong faculty, excellent counselors, and the best office staff around. I’ll work with the new director to ensure a smooth transition with continuing support for students, parents, and teachers. All will be well. Best wishes to all of you. I hope our paths cross again.
Due to the collaboration, flexibility, and hard work of students, parents and teachers, MVGS online school is going well. We appreciate the efforts made by so many people in our base schools, LFCC, and greater community to ensure our students continue to learn. For consistency, safety, and equity, virtual instruction will continue for all students for at least the first semester of the school year, moving to a blended model if restrictions permit. As a program that operates on Lord Fairfax Community College’s campuses , MVGS will communicate with supporting school divisions and follow the college’s reopening plan: LFCC Return To Campus Plan
